BALANCE is a large-scale kinetic sculpture that achieves real, physical equilibrium across its crossbeams at nearly 16 feet in height. This balance is continuously altered as obsidian spheres glide from side to side, producing subtle tilts and constant motion throughout the structure. The elements move in close proximity to one another, never touching, yet always in dynamic dialogue. The piece presented a significant challenge due to the scale of its components and the level of engineering required to maintain absolute control over every moving part. BALANCE was commissioned by the Interactive Museum of Economics as a tribute to the Banco de México on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
